Known as “the voice of the housing industry,” the NAHB represents more than 205,000 members involved in home building, remodeling, multifamily construction, property management, subcontracting, design, housing finance, building product manufacturing and other aspects of residential and light commercial construction. NAHB is affiliated with more than 800 state and local home builders associations around the country. NAHB’s builder members will construct about 80 percent of the almost 1.6 million new housing units projected for 2002, making housing one of the largest and most powerful engines of economic growth in the country. Housing is vital to local and state economies, creating jobs and generating taxes and wages that positively influence the quality of life. Our state alone has more than 15,000 members. Ranked #11 on Forbes’ “Power 25” lobby organizations, NAHB staff works with Capitol Hill leaders to educate Congressmen on the importance of housing industry. Chartered in 1962, the North Carolina Home Builders Association is a trade association consisting of builder and associate member-firms and a network of local builder associations and chapters throughout North Carolina. NCHBA is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders.

NCHBA comprises the many thousands of hard working men and women who represent the North Carolina residential construction industry. The benefits of the association and the building industry accrue not only to its members, but also to the general public at large through the enhanced economic and social benefits derived from a viable building industry.

Through its programs and activities, the association encourages industry professionalism, provides a forum to consolidate industry views, and serves as a proactive advocate for the building industry which, through the assistance of NCHBA, provides homes for the citizens of North Carolina.
